The highly rated striker has warned that Paraguay will be a team to
be reckoned with...
Paraguay will have to deal with Italy,
Slovakia and New
Zealand in the group phase of the 2010 World Cup
and highly rated attacker Roque Santa Cruz has made it clear that the
aforementioned nations will face a tough task beating the Albirroja.
"Paraguay
have always had a reputation in South America for having one of the
strongest defences on the continent, but lately we’ve also become known
for our attacking qualities," said Santa Cruz to fifa.com.
"This
combination will make us hard to beat. This is probably the best
national team in Paraguayan history, and we are hopeful of going further
than the Round of 16 for the first time.
"We simply have to
start well. Our first match is against Italy, who are probably
favourites to win the group. Also, it’s important that all the players
are in form and it’s crucial that they’ve had enough rest after a long
season."
